Actually, Xerox Corporation was thought to be the fnnruroer of all modern graphical OSs. The machine was called the Alto Workstation. The Alto had a mouse and a GUI interface. It was finished in 1974. Both Microsoft and Apple viewed the Alto and incorporated its technology into their own systems. Windows has lots of marketshare because of marketing and compatibility. First of all, almost all programs can run on Windows while programs designed to run on Apples computers can only run on Apples propeitary computers. Since Apple computers are made only by Apple their apps are not able to run on Windows PC'S. And Microsoft does a good job on marketing (The WOW starts now) except for Windows Vista but since Microsoft has a strong foundation it can survive.

Hey Gabriel! Got another qusoeitn for you and I really hope you can help me out this time too. The tower defense game I'm making ( for Android ) without a terrain or ground will run at 40 to 60 fps with a bunch of turrets, cannons and enemy planes all over the place! But if I add a simple plane mesh that I imported with one material and one texture and it drops the game more then 20 frames per sec! Then if I have all the turrets and everything like before it can go down as far as 9 fps! Thanks in advance again!! And Happy Thanksgiving!!

Hi guys I feel everyone is minssig the point here , while i agree with some of the thing`s and ideas already posted . i feel there are some ideas that are worth looking at .Like yes a Gnome Gui would be great, as well as something like the package manager from linuxmint would be a great idea too . But would love to see this new GUI of mandriva to be as fast and polished as it was when i 1st started with it , Many years ago .But in the same breath maybe it needs to be as polished as linuxmint , maybe it`s worth exploring what apps they want on the GUI such as Rhythmbox ect should be on it ,i know i compare it too linuxmint a lot but am having to use linuxmint as it one of the only ones that i feel is doing anything good with their GUI at the moment . Sorry for the rant guy`s but would just love to see mandriva back were it belongs at the top again
